The Mother City took the number one spot as the top long-haul destination for the best economic value, taking the place of Tokyo which previously topped the list, Cape {town} Etc reports.

Beating out 31 other international resorts and cities, Cape Town made the number one spot as the best value long-haul holiday destination for British citizens, for the first time in six years.
Tokyo, Japan took the second highest spot with Hoi An, Vietnam coming in third.
Other cities on the list included Mombasa in Kenya, Santiago in Chile and Bali, Indonesia.
According to the Independent, cost-effective local pricing alongside a weakened South African economy has resulted in a decrease in the cost of spending time in the city for the British.
The main factor taken into consideration when ranking the destinations was the average cost of tourist staples. For example, a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, insect repellent and a three-course, meal were items taken into consideration.
